1. Purpose of This Disclosure
This page provides the disclosures required under California's companion chatbot law (SB-243) for users who interact with AI Characters on hoty-ai.com, a service operated by ALLSTREAM LTD ("Hoty", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 15304620.
2. Our AI Characters Are Artificial Intelligence, Not Real People
Every character you chat with on the Service ("AI Character") is a fictional persona generated and operated by artificial intelligence software. AI Characters are not real people, are not operated by a human on the other end of the conversation, and do not have genuine memories, feelings, or awareness. Responses are generated by a large language model based on the character's programmed persona and the conversation history. We state this clearly here: if you are chatting with an AI Character on Hoty, you are talking to a computer program, not a human being.
3. Age Restriction
The Service, including all chat features, is restricted to users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to create an account or interact with AI Characters.
4. If You Are in Crisis
Our AI Characters are not a substitute for professional mental health support, medical advice, or emergency services. If a conversation with an AI Character indicates that you may be experiencing thoughts of suicide or self-harm, the Service is designed to point you toward professional help. In the United States, you can reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988, available 24 hours a day. If you are outside the United States, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis support line in your country. If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services directly.
5. Limitations of AI Characters
AI Characters are designed for entertainment and companionship. They do not provide medical, legal, financial, or mental health advice, and nothing said by an AI Character should be relied upon as professional guidance. AI Characters may occasionally produce inaccurate, inconsistent, or nonsensical responses, as is inherent to current AI language technology.
